Jimmie Allen, a country music artist, appeared as a guest mentor on Sunday night’s broadcast of American Idol, and he was moved to tears.

Mike Parker, a contestant, played Jimmie’s song, Best Shot, and told the country singer how much he inspires him.

Before taking the stage, Mike remarked, “His story is what motivates millions of others that look like me.”

Jimmie Allen was moved to tears by Mike’s performance. “It’s egotistical for him to say that I mean to him what Charlie Pride means to me,” the tearful performer remarked.

Half of the contestants who made it through auditions and Hollywood Week performed in Hawaii on the most recent edition of American Idol, which aired Sunday night.

Jay Copeland, Nicolina Bozzo, Emyrson Flora, Katyrah Love, and Leah Marlene are among those who have been told they will be able to continue.

Here’s what happened:

Jay

Jay, a Maryland medical receptionist who earned a golden ticket during his audition, got things started with a lively and emotive rendition of The Jackson 5 classic “I Want You Back.”

During rehearsal, the 23-year-old vocalist wowed Allen with his deep vocals. Allen commented, “You’re doing things with your voice that I only wish I could accomplish.”

Jimmie Allen, on the other hand, counseled Jay to embrace his “voice defects” as a way of infusing true passion into his performance. “Authenticity and passion are two things that always come through,” Allen remarked.

Elli Rowe

Elli Rowe, a 20-year-old college student, created a tropical calm with her warm, personal performance of Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere.”

Rowe said the song provided her with a beautiful moment of self-reflection. During rehearsal, the Nashville diva told Allen, “I’ve had this goal for a long time, and my younger self would be absolutely happy to see me up on that stage singing a Fleetwood Mac song.”

While nerves held Rowe’s vocals back at times, Perry remarked the overall performance “truly transported me.”

Tristen Gressett

With an explosive performance of The Beatles hit “With a Little Help from My Friends,” Alabama high schooler Tristen Gressett brought the house down.

Bryan encouraged the 17-year-old to keep pursuing his artistic impulses.

“Tristan, do whatever your heart wishes,” Bryan said following Gressett’s performance. “Don’t allow anyone lead you in any other direction. Every time you go out, you leave it on the stage.”

Missie Gressett, Gressett’s mother, was in the crowd cheering him on, and he credits her as his “greatest influence.” Gressett’s rehearsal featured Missi, who sang a few bars of Janis Joplin’s “Me and Bobby McGee” for Allen.

Scarlet

Scarlet brought the house down onstage with an electric performance of Dua Lipa’s “Levitating,” with the Connecticut native’s soaring vocals lifting the funky party banger to new heights.

Richie stated that the performance changed his perspective of the 18-year-old vocalist as an artist, revealing that “the crowd was what was lacking the whole time.”

Scarlet’s music selection and vocal delivery were commended by Perry. “When they hear that song, everyone wants to party,” she told Scarlet. “You’ve got a lot going for you, girl,” says the narrator.

Danielle Finn

Danielle Finn’s moving rendition of Elton John’s “Your Song” received a standing ovation from Perry, who offered the 17-year-old a harsh critique following her show-stopping performance.

Perry praised Finn’s jazzy performance but noted that she will need more stage time to improve her confidence as a performer.

Perry told the Los Angeles singer, “It was really your own voice, like your own unique way of delivering it.” “It wasn’t 100 percent, and I believe you’re still nervous.” You’re 17 years old, and you’ll just have to keep doing it over and over again.”

Mike Parker

Virginia Allen’s musical journey as a Black country artist inspired the 27-year-old vocalist, and Mike Parker had a full-circle heart-to-heart with him.

In a prerecorded interview, Parker said, “The beginning of his journey is much like my path right now, and he made me feel like there is a position for me in country music.” “This is a day I’ll remember till the day I die.”

During rehearsal, Jimmie Allen was moved to tears by his influence on Parker. “You’re not just doing this for you,” Allen recalls his mother telling him. “Hearing you say I’m an inspiration reminds me of what I’m here for.”

Dan Marshall

Dan Marshall, a land surveyor, gave Bryan Adams’ “Heaven” a tender country spin, dedicating it to his girlfriend Allyson, who was in the audience at his performance.

Richie noted that while he could tell Marshall was anxious at first, he also saw him “eventually relax” and find his flow. He urged the Virginia singer to put down his characteristic instrument and experiment with solo performances.

“I know you look for something else when you don’t have your crutch,” Richie said Marshall after his performance. “But it’s acceptable to take the mike out of the mic stand and walk up to Allyson.” “It’s even better now.”

Jacob Moran

By the end of the song, Michigan nurse Jacob Moran had moved all three judges to their feet, including Perry, who stated the 28-year-interpretation old’s of Shawn Mendes’ “In My Blood” had transformed the song for her.

“You sung the verse in such a lovely, reserved way that it was as if I’d never heard these lyrics before: it’s as if I’d finally heard the song,” Perry said to Moran. “I just want you to be even more free the next time, because I see you making all of your decisions with your head.” “All I ask is that you sing more from your heart.”

Nicolina

Nicolina, a Toronto college student, performed Sia’s “Elastic Heart” flawlessly. Jimmie Allenpraised the 18-year-emotionally old’s powerful speech during practise, which she said was inspired by the sadness of her parents’ divorce.

“I don’t just see a singer when I see you; I see an artist,” Jimmie Allen informed Nicolina. “I’m not sure if it’s because of your experiences in life. “It was real where you got that from.”

Nicolina’s innate charisma onstage was commended by Richie, who called her “one of my favourites (in) this whole competition.”

Nicolina’s song selection was praised by Perry, who advised her to “keep picking those songs that resonate with you and resonate with the listener, and we’ll believe it all the way to the top.”

Watch the remaining half of the top 24 competitors enter the “Idol” stage with the guidance of superstar mentor Bebe Rexha on Monday at 8 p.m. EST.
