YouTube premium’s Family Plan got more expensive, Check Out Prices

YouTube premium has raised the price of its Family Plan and it is now in effect.

YouTube Premium gets price hike for Family Plan before thanksgiving
Today, YouTube sent an email to its subscribers revealing that the price of their Family plan is rising from $17.99 per month to $22.99 per month.
If you didn’t know, Family Plan enables almost six accounts to use the same subscription.
Moreover, two individuals took to Reddit to share the screenshot of the email they received from the streaming service.
In addition, the email briefly explains the price jump and mentions that it will be effective for current subscribers on their next billing cycle. However, the recent subscribers will be charged a new price immediately.
Meanwhile, the email says, ‘We created YouTube Premium to provide an uninterrupted YouTube experience, so you can get closer to the videos, creators, and music artists that you love.’
It continued with, ‘To continue delivering great service and features, we will be increasing your Premium family plan price from $17.99/month to $22.99/month.’
The message further read, ‘This change will take place on your next billing cycle starting on or after November 21, 2022.’
Furthermore, it added, ‘To check the status of your account and billing information, go to your Settings > Purchases and Memberships page. All members have the flexibility to pause or cancel anytime here.’
YouTube has announced the monthly price of YouTube Premium is going to be raised from $17.99 to $22.99. This is projected to earn Google an additional $15 a month in 2023, as only like 3 people have YouTube Premium.

YouTube representative confirms Family plan’s price hike
Marni Greenberg, the spokesperson of YouTube released a statement to address the recent price jump of its Family Plan.
She said, ‘We don’t make these decisions lightly, and we realize how hard this may be for our members.’
Subsequently, she shared, ‘This new price reflects the complete value of YouTube Premium and will allow us to develop even more Premium features and continue to support the creators and artists our members watch and listen to on YouTube.’
Moreover, the price change is already effective in a few regions that include:
- United States: $17.99 -> $22.99
- Canada: CA$17.99 -> CA$22.99
- UK: £17.99 -> £19.99
- Argentina: Individual plan ARS 119 -> ARS 389, Family plan ARS 179 -> ARS 699
- Turkey (individual plan): 16.99 TRY -> 29.99 TRY
- Japan: ¥1,780 -> ¥2,280
Furthermore, the price hike of the video streaming platform comes days after they canceled a test that required YouTube Premium subscribers to watch videos in 4K resolution. It caused outrage among the users.
