Brittney Griner appears to be stoked to return to the basketball court alongside her WNBA team. Moreover, pictures of her first practice session are gradually taking over the internet.

Multiple pictures of Brittney Griner’s first practice session following her WNBA return are circulating online. In addition, it seems like Phoenix Mercury is giving her the shoot-around session.

The 32-year-old professional player was all smiles as she practiced her stances on the practice court on Tuesday. 

Meanwhile, Griner’s recent pictures come only a couple of days after she signed a one-year deal to return to her former team.

Additionally, it is important to note that, Griner has not played in the WNBA since the 2021 season.

Besides that, she scored an average of 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds at that time while leading the Mercury to the WNBA Finals.

Brittney Griner resigns with Phoenix Mercury

Brittney Griner took to her social media account in December to reveal that she is returning to the United States of America after her 10-month detainment in Russia.

If you didn’t know, Griner was taken into custody in February 2022 at an airport just outside Moscow. She was charged with drug possession.

However, she returned to her home in a high-level prisoner exchange with Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout. He was sentenced to spend 25 years in prison and served 14 years in the US.

Jim Pitman, the general manager of Mercury talked about Griner’s return in an interview following the announcement. 

He said, ‘We missed BG every day that she was gone. While basketball was not our primary concern, her presence on the floor, in our locker room, around our organization, and within our community was greatly missed.’

Moreover, he added, ‘We will continue to use the resources of our organization to support her. On and off the floor. We are thrilled for her that she gets to return to basketball, which she loves so dearly. This is a special signing and today is a special day for all of us.’

Besides that, Vince Kozar, president of  Mercury’s business operations said, ‘To know BG is to love and appreciate BG, and we can’t wait to show her that in person with thousands and thousands of her biggest supporters exactly three months from today at our Welcome Home Opener.’
