YouTuber Trevor Jacob’s pilot license revoked after plane crash
2 min readTrevor Jacob’s pilot certificate was revoked by the Federal Aviation Administration last month after he wrecked his single-engine plane over the California mountains. The incident occurred in November of last year. He uploaded the video to his YouTube site, titled “I Crashed My Plane.” Since its release in December, the video has received over 1.8 million views. Following the disaster, the FAA asked that Trevor Jacob forfeit his pilot certificate immediately. The following was written in the letter.
In what aircraft did Trevor Jacob fly?
“On November 24, 2021, you chose to jump off of an aeroplane just to record the crash footage, demonstrating a lack of care, judgement, and accountability.” Your egregious and deliberate conduct on these dates demonstrates that you currently lack the level of care, judgement, and responsibility that a certificate holder is expected to have.” Trevor Jacob was flying a single-engine Taylorcraft BL-65 when it crashed in the Los Padres National Forest.
The plane of Trevor Jacob crashed. What happened?
The plane’s only occupant was the YouTuber. His propeller stopped spinning at one point in the video he uploaded to his YouTube page. Jacob continued to say things that were bleeped out of the video. He mentioned that the engine was broken in one of them. He then recorded himself opening the door and jumping out of the plane using a parachute. Cameras attached to the now-empty jet captured footage of it plummeting into the mountains.
The material producer made no attempt to contact air traffic control, according to the FAA. He also did not try to solve the problem by restarting the engine before jumping. “Despite the fact that there were many sites within gliding range,” the FAA claimed, he “took no attempt to explore for areas to land safely.” The plane, which was a historic type from the 1940s, was in a “state of despair and in need of serious maintenance,” according to Jalopnik. Jacob attempted to fix it himself, according to the publication.
