Olajide Olayinka Williams “JJ” Olatunji, also known as KSI, became famous after posting videos on YouTube. He is one of the UK’s top artists and social media influencers at the age of 29.

In under a decade, KSI accumulated millions of subscribers. According to Wealthy Gorilla, his estimated net worth is $15 million dollars, making him one of the UK’s largest social media stars today.

Initially, his output consisted mostly of video commentary on popular games. His YouTube account now includes challenges, reaction videos, and a few additional music videos with millions of views. HITC explains how his YouTube career catapulted him to fame.

Controversies and his beginnings as a Youtuber

At the age of 15, he began uploading videos on YouTube under the handle JideJunior. He changed his name to KSIOlajideBT a year later, and it has remained under that handle ever since.

JJ began posting videos from his parents’ home in Watford, where he commented on popular video games. His bright personality and energy won him notoriety, prompting him to drop out of sixth grade in order to seek a career in the YouTube community.

By 2012, KSI had a million members on his YouTube channel, and his celebrity had soared without any scandals or issues. According to The Guardian, viewers were outraged by his behaviour toward women, and he was barred from attending the Eurogamer Expo in 2013. Microsoft even ended their relationship with the YouTuber.

In the year 2020, the actor addressed the inappropriate remarks he made when he was younger. According to the Metro, he said he wasn’t ‘proud’ of his statements at a gaming convention and that they were a’mistake.’

An outstanding 24 million fans

He continued to make YouTube videos over time and joined British YouTube groups such as Sidemen. Since then, he’s been uploading various videos that include challenges, sketches, and gaming commentary, similar to what he did on his main channel.

He would frequently react to other YouTubers’ videos, including the time he and his younger brother Deji got into a big fight. Fast forward until now, the YouTuber is still posting regular content under JJ Olatunji, where he does challenges and reacts to other videos.

With 23.8 million subscribers, KSI’s primary channel is now the second most subscribed YouTube channel in the United Kingdom. Both accounts have surpassed the 39 million subscriber milestone.

How did KSI become a rising star?

On his YouTube account, KSI periodically posted diss tracks and original songs. He, on the other hand, had never considered pursuing a career as a professional singer. Lamborghini, a song featuring MC P Money, was released in 2011, shortly after he rose to stardom. The song became a viral hit and reached number 30 on the UK Singles Chart.

His music career began in 2019 when he signed with RBC Records and BMG, according to Planet Radio. He has established himself in the music industry by collaborating with well-known artists such as Yungblud, Anne-Marie, and Craig David.

Dissimulation and All Over the Place are KSI’s most recent albums. All Over the Place topped the Official Album Charts, and many of his singles charted at the top of the music charts, according to Official Charts.

He recently signed on as an official performer for the 2022 British Summer Time. Holiday and Don’t Play, which featured Anne-Marie, were among KSI’s hit hits.
