On April 13, YouTuber @Middle7 found themselves embroiled in controversy after being accused of defaming the rookie K-pop girl group NewJeans. In response to the legal action taken by NewJeans’ agency, ADOR, the YouTuber released an apology video, expressing shock at being sued and stating that their account had been deleted for violating community guidelines.

The apology video, captioned as “The apology letter of a middle school 7th grader who got sued by NewJeans,” attempted to address the situation. @Middle7 acknowledged the lawsuit and expressed relief that their account wasn’t monetized, thus minimizing potential financial losses.

However, the apology was short-lived as the YouTuber’s account was subsequently deleted for violating community guidelines. This development further intensified the ongoing saga between @Middle7 and ADOR Agency.

The controversy surrounding @Middle7 stems from their allegedly defamatory statements and mockery of NewJeans. ADOR Agency, considering defamation and insult as serious offenses in South Korea, initiated legal action against the YouTuber.

Initially, ADOR filed a complaint with the Seoul Police Station. However, due to @Middle7’s anonymous account, the complaint could not proceed further. Consequently, ADOR sought the YouTuber’s identity from Google, under whose umbrella YouTube operates. Despite their efforts, Google rejected the request, prompting ADOR to turn to the US Federal Court in California to compel Google to reveal @Middle7’s identity.

Should @Middle7’s identity be unveiled, ADOR intends to proceed with a lawsuit, charging the YouTuber with defamation and insult against NewJeans.

While the outcome of ADOR’s legal action remains uncertain, @Middle7’s recent statement hinted at their dissatisfaction with the situation. In a seemingly mocking tone, they released a video labeled as an apology letter, accompanied by the song “FUXX THAT SHXX” by Leellamarz and TOIL. The video contained sarcastic remarks about being sued by NewJeans’ agency, reflecting the ongoing tension between the parties involved.

As the situation unfolds, netizens await further developments regarding the lawsuit and its implications for both @Middle7 and NewJeans.
