Who is Wizkid?
Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun also famously known as Wizkid was born on July 16 1990 in Lagos. He has 12 female siblings. His father is Islamic and his mother is a pentecostal Christian.
He studied at Ijebu Ode Grammar School. In one of the interviews, he mentioned that he made a group of his church friends. They called themselves Glorius Five. They did release an album right before disbanding. Till 2006 Wizkid went by stage same Lil Prinz. He then met OJB Jezreel who is a record producer who stopped him from recording for one year. He visited OJB’s Point Beat Studios often. He also watched 2 Face Idibia records for Sound Sultans’ debut album called Jagbajantis. He commended Naeto C as one of the people who guided and mentored him when he was 15.
He made a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment in 2009. He also co-wrote a song of Banky W.’s The W experience album called Omege you too much. He later worked with Naeto C and M.I improving his craft. In the middle of 2009, he dropped out of his university. He later attended Lead City University but again dropped out after a little while.

According to Wizkid, his music career started from the day he was a part of his church choir. He says that the early inspirations that inspired him to become a musician were Bob Marley, King Sunny Ade, and Sound Sultan.
He performed as a solo artist from 2001 to 2006. His stage name was Lil Prinz. He then formed a band called the Glorious Five. They released an album just before disbanding.
After he had dropped off from UNI in 2009 he made a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment(EME). The same year he started recording for his debut studio album with his new stage name as Wizkid. It was titled, Superstar.
He announced his decision to start his own record label on March 5, 2013. His record label was ‘Star Boy Entertainment’.The same year he also signed off some deals of endorsement with mobile network MTN and beer company Guinness.
His song ‘One Dance’ topped the charts in 15 countries. That made him Nigeria’s most successful artist in the pop genre. He released his single ‘Like This’on Drake’s OVO Radio in 2016.
