The head coach Urban Meyer had been fired by the Jaguars after only 13 games, the announcement coming in the early hours on Thursday.

Coach Meyer is out of his first head coaching job after only 13 games in the National Football League.
It has been told by the Jaguars that offensive coordinator, Darrell Bevell will serve as the team interim head coach.
In the statement provided by the team, Shad Khan, the Jaguar owner said, “After deliberation over many weeks and a thorough analysis of the entirety of Urban’s tenure with our team, I am bitterly disappointed to conclude that an immediate change is imperative for everyone”.
He further added, “I informed Urban of the change this evening. As I stated in October, regaining our trust and respect was essential. Regrettably, it did not happen.”
From Tampa Bay Times, Rick Stroud reported to former Jaguars kicker, Josh Lambo that Lambo was kicked by Meyer in a leg during the warm-up for the preseason game.
The full statement provided by the Jaguars of Khan was: “For the balance of season 2021, Bevell will serve as interim head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Darrell succeeds Urban Meyer. After deliberation over many weeks and after a thorough analysis of Urban’s tenure with our team, I am bitterly disappointed to conclude that an immediate change is imperative for everyone. This evening I informed Urban of the change. As I stated in Oc tober, regaining our trust and respect was important. Regrettably, it didn’t happen.”
Trent Baalke continues, “as our general manager. He will work with Darrell to ensure that our team will be inspired and competitive while representing Jacksonville proudly over our final four games of the season. In the spirit of closure and recharging our players, staff, and fan base, I will not comment further until some point following the conclusion of the NFL season.”
