American actress, Valerie Bertinelli is now ending her marriage with her husband Tom Vitale. Bertinelli who is married to Tom for the last ten years filed for divorce in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
Tom and Valerie have said in previous interviews that they both were going through a tough time when they met each other. They met through Vitale’s brother, Patrick. After dating for almost six years, they married each other in 2011 in an intimate ceremony in California.
Reason For Divorce-
Although the reason for their split up is still not clear, the documents state that she filed for divorce due to “irreconcilable differences”.
The documents also state that the couple signed a premarital contract earlier which explains the division of assets between them.
The couple does not have any kids together and apparently, Valerie has denied spousal support for both of them.
Valerie Bertinelli’s Previous Marriage-
Valerie married Eddie Van Halen in 1981 and also shares a child (Wolfgang Van Halen) with him. The couple legally split up in 2007. However, even after they split-up, Valerie was on good terms with Eddie. Talking about the reason for their split up the actress mentioned that Eddie had a cocaine addiction. His refusal to quit smoking even after being diagnosed with oral cancer was a major reason.
Last year, when Eddie passed away due to cancer, Valerie penned down a heartfelt tribute for him on social media. The actress being deeply affected by her ex-husband’s death wrote-“’40 years ago my life changed forever when I met you. You gave me the one true light in my life, our son, Wolfgang”. The actress also added, “ I’m so grateful Wolfie and I were able to hold you in your last moments. I will see you in our next life my love.”
Valerie also said that she found it hard to go back to her normal life after Eddie’s death.
Tom Vitale’s Previous Marriage-
Like Valerie Bertinelli, Tom was also married once before he met her. He and his previous wife Sharon share four children together. However, we don’t know much about his previous marriage and the reason for the split up. Although, it might have something to do with Tom’s anger issues because he has attended Anger Management sessions.
However, Valerie did mention in a previous interview that she immediately bonded with his kids and likes to spend time with them.
