Why did Girl Group APRIL Kpop disband? What happened to APRIL members?

Earlier this week, DSP Media released an official statement to confirm APRIL’s disbandment.  

In response to DSP Media’s request, FineApple (APRIL’s fandom) is showing love and support to all of APRIL’s members as they embark on their solo journeys. Members of APRIL also expressed gratitude to fans for their support for the last six years. The mini-album ‘Dreaming’ by APRIL, released on August 24, 2015, was their debut. A special album titled ‘Hello Summer’ was released by the group in 2020.

APRIL and the agency disbanded and went their separate ways after much discussion and debate on January 28, according to a statement released by the agency.

We ask that you give lots of support and interest to the six members, who will be walking a new path that is not part of APRIL.

In an interview, the agency and the group members revealed that the decision to disband was made after a lengthy discussion and debate, where the agency and the group members decided to disband the group and go their separate ways.

Lee Hyunjoo, a former member of April, has retained an attorney to represent him in a legal dispute concerning the bullying controversy that started in February 2021.

Because they were embroiled in such a huge controversy, not only the K-pop industry. But the general public was shocked, and they lost the public’s trust and were unable to work together again.

A netizen representing himself as Hyunjoo’s brother alleged that Lee was bullied when she was still a member of the group, setting off the bullying controversy surrounding APRIL and Hyunjoo. Legal action was taken against Hyunjoo and her family and friends after DSP Media denied this allegation.

APRIL’s Last Album Before Disbanding

The last APRIL comeback was in July 2020, when the band released the “Hello Summer” single album. It was available in two versions: Summer Day and Summer Night. Before disbanding, April was embroiled in the bullying controversy.

April’s last album, “Hello Summer,” included two tracks and their instrumental renditions. “Now or Never” and “Paradise.” Both songs promoted the CD.

“Hello Summer” sold 7,051 copies on the Hanteo Chart in its first week and 14,408 copies on the Gaon Chart in its first month.

Immediately after its release, a few real-time charts in South Korea featured the title track “Now or Never.”. “Now or Never.” reached No. 4 on Bugs and No. 15 on Genie. Also at No. 6 on Bugs, No. 43 on Genie, and No. 76 on MelOn, it debuts on the daily charts for July 30.
