Chris Cuomo’s Engagement In His Brother’s Case

Chris Cuomo played a very engaging role in combating the sexual harassment allegations faced by his brother. His brother, Andrew M. Cuomo is the former governor of New York. As a result, CNN suspended its prime anchor Chris Cuomo on Tuesday.

Debra S. Katz, a well-known lawyer informed CNN of the allegations. The attorney of Charlotte Bennett, a former aide to Andrew Cuomo who accused the former governor of sexual harassment in February, Ms. Katz is a specialist in sexual harassment cases. CNN revealed on Saturday that it had hired a law firm to conduct an independent review of Cuomo’s involvement in the same.

Chris Cuomo Faces Sexual Allegations

Moreover, CNN received new information regarding their star anchor which eventually made them dismiss him. A former colleague of Cuomo, working at ABC News accused him of sexually harassing her. Debra S. Katz is her lawyer for the case. She revealed that her client was disgusted with Chris Cuomo’s onscreen statements regarding his brother’s case. As a result, she took up this case. She further revealed that her client wanted to come forward to protect and set an example for other women. Moreover, she revealed that she wanted to keep her identity private.

A CNN spokesperson revealed having cause to terminate him when his role in his brother’s defense came to light. However, when the new allegations came to light, CNN immediately terminated Chris Cuomo. Although, Steven Goldberg, a spokesperson Chris Cuomo begs to differ in this matter. He said that the allegations against the anchor are not true. He even supports the statements made by Chris Cuomo in a professional and a personal way.

Mr. Cuomo, whose broadcast journalism career he had forged outside of his famous political family, was at the peak of his career as the gregarious and often combative host of CNN’s 9 pm hour. He was ultimately embroiled in a controversy that led to his resignation due to the problems of his brother. His brother resigned from the governorship in August. He revealed that he did not want his career to end like this.

Many CNN journalists believe that Chris Cuomo’s attempts to control media coverage of his brother violated professional and ethical standards of journalism.
