Jeopardy!’ hosting position has been the talk of the town ever since the death of Alex Trebek and Mike Richards’s scandal who was to replace Trebek in the highly coveted gig.

Here is everything you need to know.

Jeopardy!’s new host announced 

It seems like Jeopardy! would be sticking with its current two-host method. 

According to multiple sources, Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings would continue to share the hosting duties for the game show’s upcoming Season 39. 

It has been a race for the producers to find Alex Trebek’s replacement and it appears like the Bialik and Jennings is ‘it’.

In case you didn’t know, Jeopardy!’s longtime and beloved host Alex Trebek lost his life to pancreatic cancer in November 2020 at the age of 80. 

Regardless, the duo was among the initial rotating lineup of guest hosts after Mike Richards’s abrupt exit from Jeopardy!.

Bialik and Jennings served as full-time hosts for the remainder of Season 38. Furthermore, the two seem to work well and their pairing was well received by the audience.

Moreover, the syndicated trivia show recently went on to receive an Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Daytime. This marks the third consecutive win for the series.

Jeopardy!

Negotiations for Bialik have been more focused on her availability dates since she is to appear in the new season of Fox’s Call Me Kat. The 46-year-old actress also serves as the executive producer on the show.

Bialik is further expected to host ABC’s game show Celebrity Jeopardy!. Michael Davies executive produces both Jeopardy! as well as Celebrity Jeopardy!.

More about Mike Richards’s controversy

Mike Richards, the then-executive producer was announced to replace late presenter Alex Trebek after a months-long search on 11th August 2021.

However shortly after news came to light about Richards’s implication in multiple sexual harassment and discrimination lawsuits while he was a producer on The Price Is Right.

The matter got painstakingly worse, following a report by  The Ringer’s Claire McNear.

In the article, McNear details Richards’s offensive and degrading comments on a now-defunct podcast called The Randumb Show.

The report further sparked the Anti-Defamation League to call for an inquiry against Richards. 

Moreover, after nine days of being appointed the coveted job, Richards officially step down from Jeopardy!’s presenting role.

 Richards claimed that he had become, ‘too much of a distraction and not the right move for the show.’

New episodes of Jeopardy! season 39 will be available to stream from 12th September 2022.
