Who was Traxamillion? Influential Bay Area Producer Dead at 43

The mysterious death of Traxamillion, a legendary Bay Area producer credited with pushing the hip-hop movement, has raised many questions. He was 43 years old.

Traxamillion was born in August of 2006 and released his debut album, “The Slapp Addict.”

It featured a variety of local Bay Area hip-hop artists.

Bay Area producer Traxamillion has passed away on Sunday, January 2, after a long illness. He was a driving force behind the hip-hop movement.

The blog Thizzler on the Roof broke the sad news of his death first. Immediately after the shocking news broke, hip-hop fans flooded Twitter with their shock. Those unfamiliar with the term ‘hyphy’ should know that it is hip-hop slang from Oakland meaning hyperactive.

VNZA was murdered in Missouri in June, which makes this year’s list of rappers who have passed away.

Rapper Surpa Gates, who lives in Crown Heights, was shot multiple times near Troy Avenue on April 11.

After being shot 64 times in the head and other parts of his body on July 20, 2021, Chicago rapper KTS Dre made headlines.

A second Bay Area hip-hop artist was killed in May 2021 in an attempted robbery, this time rapper Mike Darole.

What Caused Traxamillion’s Death?

His real name was Sultan Banks, and he made a name for himself with records such as Keak da Sneak’s ‘Super Hyphy’ and Dem Hoodstarz’ ‘Grown Man Remix. Hip-hop producer The Slapp Addict released his debut album in August 2006, which featured Bay Area hyphy artists. 

Traxamillion has also worked with renowned hip-hop artists such as E-40, City Girls, Paul Wall, Yukmouth, Andre Nickatina, Mac Dre, and Joyner Lucas.

A formal statement on the circumstances surrounding his death is still pending. There were, however, some social media users who speculated that he had succumbed to cancer. Thizzler shared the sad news on the Roof’s Twitter page by writing: “Rest In Peace @traxamillion The San Jose producer behind the “Hyphy ‘sound has passed away.”

Condolences Poured in for the Late Producer

Twitter was flooded with tributes to Traxamillion from hip-hop fans. 

One user said “Legend. Thanks for all the inspiration”. One poster stated that WE ALL will be dumb at the sideshows in his honor! “R.I.P. Traxamillion A Bay Area Legend.” A Twitter user replied that although he did not know him well, he remembered hearing his producer tag on his favorite Sac n Bay Area rappers. “RIP Legend.”

Another person commented, “Thanks for my bomb a** childhood songs bruh.” While another person said that he was still quite young.
