WGNO received a video of four teens who carjacked 73-year-old Linda Frickey at gunpoint and then dismembered her in Mid-City in New Orleans on Monday afternoon.

A shooting took place on North Scott Street in the 300 blocks at 1:30 pm on March 21. The late-model Nissan Kicks owned by Frickey were found hours after he disappeared near North Dumaine and North Dupre streets.

After arriving on the scene, law enforcement officers found Linda Frickey unresponsive on the ground. It was reported that the woman’s arm had been dismembered from her body.

Before the car dislodged the victim, he was dragged from the car more than a block. The neighbors were unsuccessful in stopping the car despite pleading for it.

A witness to the incident, Todd Ecker, told WDSU he tried to stop the teens from driving away. He said: “I got out of my vehicle screaming, ‘stop, stop, you are dragging someone.’

The septuagenarian was pronounced dead at the scene when emergency medical technicians arrived.

The woman was preparing to leave Security Plan Insurance before she was attacked, according to family members. Linda Richard’s sister-in-law said the former was coming out of her building to put something in her car when she became tangled in her seatbelt because she wasn’t given enough time to get out.

Carjacking victim’s family members speak out

Linda Frickey’s family members are speaking out as the investigation continues. In her interview with WDSU, Kathy Richard said Frickey was an innocent victim who did not deserve what happened to her. In Kathy Richard’s opinion, anyone on the street would have received assistance from her. “Had they only given her the opportunity to walk away, she would have given them the car. It is disgusting.”

Police in New Orleans arrest teenage suspects in woman’s killing

The teenagers will be charged with second-degree murder, according to Superintendent Shaun Ferguson. Additionally, they reported that they caught the suspects after releasing photos.

Police made the arrests after another teenager’s parents contacted them and provided more information.

“What happened to 73-year-old Linda Frickey was heinous and unthinkable,” said Orleans Parish District Attorney Jason Williams. As soon as the NOPD completes its investigation, any and all persons found to have participated in the murder of this elder will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, said Jason Williams.
