A young woman booked an Uber ride for her journey. Where in the early morning ride, she fell asleep. Then the lady woke up to the moment wherein the driver was found to be sexually assaulting her. This driver named, Dawed Mekonene is 30 years old. The rideshare driver was therefore reported by the lady for the sexual misbehaviour conducted by him.
The lady gave the statement. She told that after the driver found her sleeping in, the man intentionally stopped the journey. Then he committed the crime of sexually assaulting her in the sleep itself.
Charges Faced By Dawed Mekonene
The Las Vega Police detained and charged Uber Driver Dawed Mekonene. He has been charged with sexual abuse. Also stopping the 6-mile journey in Las Vegas was motivated by the intention of abusing the female passenger.
According to the authorities and recent reports. It was also stated that the lady was driven and dropped to the original previous destination itself as requested by the woman.
It was also found by the cops that Dawed Mekonene. While in the progress of the journey from Las Vegas to the apartment complex ( the stated 6-mile journey). He cancelled it and then after driving the woman and dropping her, restarted 22 min later.
Uber Driver Assaulted a Lady Passenger
The lady had booked a Green Toyota Camry for the ride through the Uber services. Dawed Mekonene arrived for the requested ride on December, 16, Thursday. He did this misdeed in the middle of the journey. Then Mekonene was therefore taken into custody on December 20, Monday. On December 18, 2021, at approximately 1.16 am. LVMPD(Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department) sexual assault Detectives respond to UMC regarding this sexual assault.
The cops announced the custody of Mekonene as the suspect of sexual assault on Tuesday. He was booked into the Clark country detention centre. Where he faces charges for sexually motivated kidnapping. Also the sexual assault (2 counts) and battery by strangulation with intent to commit sexual assault.
