Peter Aykroyd who was a former cast member and writer on SNL and also the younger brother of Dan Aykroyd died just a day before his 66th birthday.
SNL announced Peter’s death by tweeting Tom Schiller’s 1979 comedic shirt “Java Junkie”. Peter Aykroyd was starred in it as a coffee addict and Teri Garr as his waitress/dealer.

Who is Dan Aykroyd?

Dan Aykroyd is a famous Canadian comedian, actor, musician, producer, and filmmaker. He was also an original member of the “Not Ready for Prime Time Players” on Saturday Night live from 1975 to 1979. He also performed with his brother John Belushi in a musical sketch on SNL called the Blue Brothers. After which they turned into an actual performing band and then they featured in the film The Blues Brothers in 1980. He also starred in other films and sequels like Ghostbusters, Driving Miss Daisy, Soul Man, and many more.

Dan is a businessman. He has co-founded the House of Blues chain of music venues and the Crystal Head Vodka brand. At present “The Blue Brothers” band are involved on various tours. Peter was born on November 19, 1955, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He followed his older brother’s footsteps into Toronto’s legendary Second City comedy troupe. Then he also joined the cast of SNL. Peter worked as a writer and performer on the show during the 1979-1980 season.
Peter Aykroyd also co-wrote ‘Nothing But Trouble”. The 1991 film was directed by his own brother and starred Demi Moore, Chevy Chase, John Candy, and also his brother Dan.

Other films that he starred in are Gas, The funny Farm, Doctor Detroit, Coneheads, Dragnet, and Kids of the Round Table. He also developed a Canadian series called “PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal”.
Peter was also a real-life fourth-generation paranormal researcher just like his brother. Their father Peter Sr. was the author of a book in 2009 named “A History of Ghosts: The true story of Seances, Mediums, Ghosts, and Ghostbusters.”He passed away last year at the age of 98.
