On February 28, 2022, Ukrainian human rights groups and Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States reported that Russian forces used cluster bombs and vacuum bombs against Ukrainians.

Russia has been accused of using cluster and vacuum bombs. These are banned weapons, by Ukraine’s ambassador to the U.S., Oksana Markarova, and Human Rights Watch.

Vacuum Bombs: What Are They?

A vacuum bomb, also called a thermobaric bomb, is an explosive used to generate a high-temperature blast using the oxygen from the environment.

In addition to being much longer than conventional explosives, the wave created by the explosion is able to vaporize human bodies.

Oksana Markarova, the Ukrainian ambassador to the United States, told reporters who accompanied her after her meeting with congressional members. “They used the vacuum bomb today. the devastation that Russia is attempting to inflict on Ukraine is extensive.”

What is the number of nuclear weapons that Russia possesses?

The possibility of a third world war has shaken the world amid the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

As a result of Putin’s order to put Russia’s nuclear deterrent forces on high alert. There have been questions raised about how many nuclear weapons they own and the potential impact if they are launched.

The Mirror reports that there are 6,257 nuclear weapons in Russia. The United States has 5,550 nuclear weapons, while the United Kingdom has 225.

Ukraine does not possess nuclear weapons

There are no nuclear weapons in Ukraine. As a result of the Budapest Memorandum, the country decided to denuclearize and eliminate all its weapons.

As Ukraine became a non-nuclear-weapon country, Ukraine’s leaders signed a memorandum with the leaders of Russia, Britain, and the United States in 1994.

Ukrainian nuclear forces had 1,900 warheads before they were destroyed.
