Kendrick Lamar has returned to the music industry after a five-year hiatus!

Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, the singer’s long-awaited new album, will be released on May 13, 2022.

The news was announced on his website Okalama.com, which he has been teasing his fans with for some time.

Since the rapper’s statement, a number of intriguing speculations have surfaced. According to one idea, Oklama is Kendrick’s alter ego.

What is Oklama.com?

Fans have been thinking about Oklama for a long time. They first heard it when he launched his album with a link to his website last year.

The official site is divided into two folders: one contains a note from the rapper outlining his return to music, and the other contains a statement about the release of his fifth studio album.

“The following statement was released today by Oklama, through his company pgLang, at 11:00 a.m. PT in Los Angeles, CA,” the statement states.

As fans try to figure out what Oklama means, Twitter is flooded with interesting theories and predictions.

“Reminds me of Bob Marley & The Wailers and a lot of reggae bands,” one fan wrote in response to Kendrick’s new album. Mr. Morale is Mr. Morale’s reggae alter-ego, Oklama. That is my forecast.”

“I have a strong suspicion that this next Kendrick Lamar album will tell a story through the eyes of the “Oklama” character rather than Kendrick himself… Another predicted, “He could follow in the footsteps of MF Doom and Eminem and release a great album narrated from the perspective of his alter-ego.”

“I thought about this when I read the album name “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers,” another admirer speculated. Is Kendrick going to release this album as Kendrick Lamar? Or under a pseudonym, such as Oklama? Maybe it’s from Oklama’s point of view? The record title doesn’t scream Kenny…”

After a long hiatus, Kendrick is back

Music fans are relieved to see Kendrick return, as it has been a long time since his last album, DAMN, was released.

The Grammy-winning album was a huge hit, but the rapper has been virtually absent from the scene since its release in 2017.

Kendrick did, however, contribute to the Black Panther soundtrack and collaborated with Baby Keem on The Melodic Blue.

Last month, he won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance in a Motion Picture for his work in Family Ties.
