History of Earth Day

Earth Day celebration or its history dates back to the year 1970. When that year 20 million people came to the streets of the United States to protest the 1969 Santa Barbara Oil Spill incident. It was ever since then that the Earth Day celebration began.

Basically, this Earth Day celebration since 1970 kept highlighting the harm and imbalance the planet has been facing. To take action against all of that the tradition of celebrating Earth Day began on the 22nd of April of every year. Not to miss, this year Earth Day made its 52nd celebration.

Significance of Earth Day

Marking its 52nd year of celebration. This day is to celebrate Earth and its life globally. While different countries celebrate the day differently. The agenda behind the celebration always remains the same. Saving the planet and its habitat and the ecosystem is what’s the main purpose of its celebration.

In fact, back in 2016, a Paris Agreement tied at least 200 countries where the common motive to sign the agreement was to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. Moreover, Earth day teaches everyone the importance of the planet and why its ecosystem needs to be taken care of.
