Joanna Gaines recently shared updates on her health struggles while revealing that she suffers from a chronic back injury she sustained back in high school when she was a cheerleader.

Joanna Gaines opens up about her recent health struggles
Joanna Gaines took to her Instagram account early Thursday morning to talk about her recent health struggles.
Moreover, she posted a photo of herself wearing shades and a hospital gown. Also, she is lying on a hospital bed while flashing a peace sign with two fingers.
Besides that, in the caption, Gaines shared that she had a long-term back injury since she was a cheerleader in high school.
Furthermore, she revealed that she had her first microdiscectomy in 2001 when she was dating her now-husband Chip Gaines. In addition, the procedure forced her to cancel her second date with him.
If you didn’t know, a microdiscectomy is a surgical procedure where a surgeon removes portions of the herniated disc which helps to relieve pain in the spine.
Meanwhile, she continued that her recent surgery is the same one she had, ‘on another disc two weeks ago.’
Additionally, she continued, ‘I’ve always joked that my back likes to act up at the most inconvenient times. I was a bit stressed because of the timing of it all with the holiday season.’
The Fixer Upper star surgical procedure comes a month after she graced the cover of PEOPLE magazine.

Joanna Gaines is determined to focus on the positive aspects of her situation while she is in her recovery period.
She said, ‘I’ve always joked that my back likes to act up at the most inconvenient times and I was a bit stressed bc of the timing of it all with the holiday season.’
The 44-year-old Magnolia Network star mentioned, ‘But I’m truly grateful for the forced rest during the busiest time of the year. It has been a gift to simply stay put, stare at the wonder all around, and just be still.’
Besides that, Gaines also posted a picture of herself sitting next to the Christmas tree while hugging one of her children.
Meanwhile, Gaines is gearing up to celebrate her 20th wedding anniversary with her husband Chip Gaines in the coming year.
In addition, the couple is parents to five kids. They have three sons named Drake (17), Duke (14), and Crew (4). Also, they share two daughters, Ella (16), and Emmie, (12).
