Former, professional wrestler, Jimmy Rave died. Jimmy’s real name was James Michael Guffey. He was 39 years. The star had both his legs amputated 6 months ago due to an MRSA infection. Bill Behrens, the wrestling agent, expressed his sadness to the PEOPLE. He says that James was like his own kid.

after which, he also mentions how helpless he feels for not being able to help him to live. Behrens shared a post regarding Rave’s death on Twitter on Monday. He, adding that Rave’s daughter, Kailah, had helped him write it, spoke about Jimmy’s career and life.

“James Michael Guffey has died at the age of 39, James was best known as Professional Wrestler Jimmy Rave. His career started in 1999, continued for over 2 decades. He was a two-time NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion. He appeared in Total Non-Stop Action Wrestling, where he teamed with Lance (Hoyt) Rock as the ‘Rock and Rave Infection,” said Bill.

Jimmy Rave’s Leg Amputation

In October 2021, Jimmy Rave had an MRSA infection in both his legs. His doctors suggested he get his legs amputated. Previously, in November 2020, had an arm infection. Therefore, he had his left arm amputated as well.

However, Rave expressed both these events over Twitter to his fans. In his tweet after his arm amputation, he said it was painful and difficult for him to type out to his audience. He even extended his gratitude and thanked everyone with who he once participated. He even asked his crowd to take care and not neglect their health as he did.

Later, Jimmy Rave, in his tweet regarding both the leg amputation, posted a black and white picture of himself, post-operation. He captioned it as, “Apparently it’s time for me to come clean. This past June I began having trouble walking & went to my surgeon. He determined I had MRSA in both legs & they needed to be amputated immediately”.

Jimmy Rave’s Career And Personal Life

Jimmy Rave had started his journey in wresting in 1999. He toured Japan with both Dragon Gate Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling. In 2008 he competed in the “Best of the Super Junior Tournament”. Jimmy appeared in many independent promotions including Rampage Pro Wrestling. He was a part of the Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment as well. He was active in Combat Zone Wrestling, among many others.

On the contrary, apart from wrestling, he held the position of Director of the Bartow County, Georgia Peer Support, Wellness, and Respite Center for several years. Initially, James was struggling with drug addiction for many years. His struggles resulted in the amputation of his arm and, later, both of his legs. Previously, the wrestler lived with his ex-wife Felicia, daughter Kailah, son James II, and his parents Jim & Toni Guffey. At the time of his death, the star was in Philadelphia, PA area with Gabby Gilbert. Rave’s memorial services will happen in Georgia.
