Wendy Williams Reportedly Facing Federal Tax Lien Over Unpaid Taxes

Reports have surfaced indicating that Wendy Williams, the renowned talk show host, is confronting a federal tax lien for over $500,000 in unpaid taxes, as disclosed by TMZ. Legal documents obtained by the outlet reveal that Wendy Williams’ New York City condo, purchased for $4.5 million in 2021, is now subject to a lien filed by the government in January and recorded with the New York City Department of Finance in early February. The unpaid federal taxes amount to $568,451.57 for the years 2019 and 2021.
This revelation comes on the heels of a prior report by Page Six in March 2023, disclosing Williams’ sale of some of her valuable possessions housed within her NYC abode. Representatives for Williams have yet to respond to Page Six’s request for comment regarding the recent tax lien.
In February 2022, Wendy Williams was assigned a new financial guardian following a declaration by Wells Fargo that she was an “incapacitated person” requiring guardianship. This decision arose after Williams’ attorney, Celeste N. McCaw, submitted an emergency petition alleging that the bank had denied her access to her accounts and assets. Despite these assertions, Williams expressed her reluctance to be placed under guardianship, emphasizing her desire to manage her finances independently.
Williams’ financial difficulties have been the subject of scrutiny, further highlighted in her Lifetime documentary, “Where Is Wendy Williams?” The series delves into her struggles, with Williams tearfully recounting her financial hardships after being placed under guardianship. Additionally, her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., criticized the efficacy of her court-appointed guardian in protecting her interests.
Amidst these challenges, Williams’ health has also been a focal point, with her team disclosing her diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia and aphasia shortly before the documentary’s release. Kevin Jr. later attributed Williams’ illness to alcohol-induced factors.
As the saga unfolds, Wendy Williams’ financial and health struggles underscore the complexities she faces, evoking both sympathy and concern from her fans and the public alike.
