An accused stalker approached Drew Barrymore and attempted to disrupt her interview with Reneé Rapp. Drew Barrymore was taken aback during her speech at the 92nd Street Y event in New York City on Monday, August 21. A claimed stalker approached the 48-year-old talk show presenter and actress, attempting to disrupt her interview with Reneé Rapp. Drew had to be quickly removed from the stage. As she spoke, the man could be heard exclaiming, “Drew Barrymore!” “Oh my God — hi,” Drew replied, surprised. “You must know who I am,” he shouted. I’ll need to see you while you’re in New York.” According to Variety, he identified himself as Chad Michael Busto.

Drew was removed off the stage by a bodyguard as Chad spoke. Nevertheless, she returned to the event shortly after and was greeted with a standing ovation by the audience. It’s unknown whether Chad knew or had previously met Drew. He may have been caught in 2009, according to the Santa Monica Daily Press. According to reports, he defied officials at the time and was arrested. In several states, including Georgia, Texas, Minnesota, Florida, and Wisconsin, he was arrested for disorderly conduct and trespassing. According to the New York Post, Chad’s previous charges include criminal trespass, resisting arrest, indecent exposure, disorderly conduct, larceny, harassment, and others.

Barrymore can be seen interacting with the event presenter and “Sex Lives of College Girls” star Reneé Rapp in a video shot by the @vidsofceleb TikTok account, which has over 4 million views, before being pulled away from the stage when an accused stalker approaches her. As she speaks, a man can be heard crying out in the audience, “Drew Barrymore!” “Oh my God, yes – hi,” she says, scanning the crowd. According to Variety, the man then introduces himself as “Chad Michael Busto,” saying, “You know who I am.” I’ll need to see you while you’re in New York.” As he speaks, a bodyguard enters, as does Rapp, 23, who is seen wrapping her arm around Barrymore’s waist and escorting her off the stage. Fortunately, the “Music and Lyrics” singer was able to return to the event just moments later. The audience greeted her with a rousing round of applause. “Okay, here’s the deal: the second they said, ‘Ok, we’re good,’ I was like, “Well, do you need anything? Do you want to sit down?” ‘Oh, no, I got it — I’m good,’ she said.

When the two sat back down on stage, Rapp said of Barrymore. “My definition of your sexiness is the protectiveness that went full ‘Bodyguard’!” Barrymore responded by mentioning that film from 1992. Then, in a lovely moment, Barrymore rose from her seat to embrace Rapp. “You are my Kevin Costner!” She was referring to the actor who starred alongside Whitney Houston in the film. It was unclear whether Barrymore knew — or had previously met — stage-stormer Busto. According to the Santa Monica Daily Press, the same individual was detained in that city in 2009 and arrested for obstructing officers and seven outstanding warrants. He was arrested in Georgia, Texas, Minnesota, Florida, and Wisconsin for disorderly conduct and trespassing, according to the newspaper. The Post obtained a number of police files for a guy called Chad Michael Busto, which detailed offences for criminal trespass, resisting arrest, indecent exposure, disorderly conduct, theft, harassment, and other offences in multiple states, dating back to June 1999 and as recently as January 2022.
