A skirmish broke out at Megan Thee Stallion’s album release party for her new album, Megan. The incident, which took place at the Millwick Event Space in Los Angeles on Thursday night, June 27, involved her former hair stylist Jonathan Wright and one of her security guards.
The altercation, captured on video by TMZ, shows Wright grabbing the security guard’s collar before being pushed away. Shocked bystanders can be heard reacting to the scuffle. Megan Thee Stallion, who was present at the event, quickly intervened to de-escalate the situation, urging everyone to calm down. Following the incident, Megan was seen buying drinks for Wright at the bar, indicating that tensions had cooled.
Further footage obtained by TMZ shows that Wright managed to land a hit on the security guard before the fight was broken up. The cause of the altercation remains unclear, but sources suggest it could have been a case of mistaken identity or disrespect from Megan’s team.
The party, which had a jungle theme complete with live snakes, continued without further incident. Guests, including Megan herself, were seen enjoying the festivities and posing with the snakes. Megan sported a reptilian outfit in line with the theme, aligning with the snake-inspired tracks on her new album, such as “Hiss,” “Boa,” and “Rattle.” The album cover also features Megan emerging from an egg, emphasizing the snake motif.
The party began with Megan arriving with her entourage and heading to the VIP area while her hit collaboration with GloRilla, “Wanna Be,” played in the background. The altercation broke out a few minutes later between her security guard, Tom Lang, and reality star Jonathan Wright. Witnesses report that Megan was alerted to the skirmish and could be heard yelling for Tom to back down.
After the incident, Megan and Wright smoothed things over with drinks at the bar, and the celebration resumed. Guests continued to enjoy the jungle-themed party, with Megan teasing her friends for being afraid of the snakes.
Megan Thee Stallion’s new album officially dropped on Friday, June 28. The 18-track album features collaborations with artists like UGK, GloRilla, and Kyle Richh. One track, “Rattle,” has sparked significant attention for its perceived diss towards Nicki Minaj. In the song, Megan appears to address past tensions with Minaj, rapping lines that many interpret as a direct response to previous comments made by the fellow rapper.
