An emotional video shows a father risking his life to save his son from a raging bull in a rodeo. Several social media platforms have since shared the video, calling Cody Hooks’ father a “hero.” The exhibit took place at the Bell County Rodeo in Belton, Texas, earlier this month.

According to footage uploaded on the teenager’s Instagram profile, Landis Hooks from Louisiana rescued his son from the animal after he fell off during the event. Immediately after he had been thrown off the animal, Cody was seen hurling to the ground.

Landis sprang into action immediately after Cody fell unconscious, storming the fence and covering him with his body as a human shield. There was a commentator who stated that the cowboy had laid down his life.

After Cody fell to the ground, the men in the pick-up tried to bring him to ease. They were spotted approaching Cody, however. Landis bared the brunt of the animal’s bite on his back as opposed to his son’s skull as soon as he covered his son.

Twizler is the name of the bull captured in the video. According to Tina Butler, a witness to the event, rodeo bulls usually weigh between 1000 and 1200 pounds. The rodeo community is aware of the inherent risks associated with the event, she said.

According to her, the two men walked away with only scratches and did not receive any serious injuries.

Commenters on the Instagram post said the following in response to the video:

A father willing to lay down his life for his son said one user. “God is good!” Another user said. According to another, the father is a legend. “If you were ever in doubt, you know how much your dad loves you!”

The user said that dad did an incredible job and he was relieved that everyone is fine.

The police reportedly kept medical assistance and other safety protocols at the ready. Additionally, the pick-up men were prepared for such occurrences during the exhibition.
