NBA player Victor Wembanyama has finally spoken up about his security officer allegedly assaulting singer Britney Spears. On Wednesday night, as Britney sought to get the NBA star’s attention for a photo, Wembanyama’s security official, Damian Smith, backhanded her, causing her to fall to the ground with her glasses off. Victor has told his version of what happened that night. He claimed that a person (who he did not identify as Britney) approached him from behind, causing his security to pull her away. In an interview with ESPN reporters on Thursday, Victor said, “I was walking with some security from the team to an upscale restaurant when something happened.”

The NBA Star Victor Wembanyama Finally Spoke Out Regarding Britney Spears Slap Incident
The viral incident involving his security detail hitting Britney Spears in the face was addressed by Victor Wembanyama. Something did happen, a little bit, when I headed to a restaurant with some team security, the NBA star, 19, told ESPN reporters Thursday. We were in the corridor. There were a lot of people, so people were definitely calling [at] me. There was one caller, but we had already spoken with security. Wembanyama stated that he “couldn’t stop” when he was called by the “Toxic” singer and that she “grabbed” him from behind. “I did not notice anything because I was walking straight and did not stop,” he explained. That individual grabbed me from behind — not from my shoulder – from behind. I just knew she was pushed away by security. While the San Antonio Spurs player did not specify “how much force” his security used, he did say he “pushed her away.” I didn’t stop looking so I could walk in and enjoy a nice dinner,” he laughed. Wembanyama said he had no idea the person who approached him was Spears, 41, until Thursday.

According to TMZ, the Grammy winner was hit in the face by Wembanyama’s security on Wednesday night at celebrity hotspot Catch inside the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. According to a source, Spears was a “fan” of the athlete, who had just signed with the Spurs in the 2023 NBA draught and approached him to ask if they could take a photo together. The “Womaniser” singer and her husband, Sam Asghari, were caught approaching Wembanyama, who was out walking alongside his security guard, minutes before the alleged altercation. Despite the fact that security later apologised to Spears at her table, the pop diva took to Instagram on Thursday to refute the NBA player’s claims that she “grabbed” him.
