Zelensky made the announcement on Thursday, imposing martial law and temporarily banning all males from 18 to 60 from leaving the country “in order for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military units to maintain combat readiness”.

“The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine reports certain categories of citizens have been temporarily restricted from leaving Ukraine due to imposition of martial law there,” the Interior Ministry of Ukraine said in a statement.

In particular, Ukrainian male citizens aged 18 to 60 are forbidden to leave the country. Martial law will remain in effect during this period. It is important that citizens be informed of this information.

People who are willing to fight are encouraged to come forward, Zelensky said.

On Twitter, he stated that those who want to defend their country would be provided with weapons.

The Ukrainian defense minister has also encouraged everyone with a Ukrainian passport to join the armed forces. It has been reported that Ukrainians living in neighboring European countries have returned to defend their country.

According to reports, Ukraine has a military arsenal of 361,000 troops.
