UFC champion Conor McGregor will be flaunting his acting skills in his debut Hollywood film.

Here is everything you need to know.

Conor McGregor is headed toward the big screen

Conor McGregor is gearing up for his acting debut in the remake of the 1989 action film Road House. The movie will star Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role.

Gyllenhaal will play the role of Dalton, a former MMA fighter who gets a new job as a bouncer at a roadhouse in the Florida Keys. But he, ‘soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise.’

Moreover, McGregor’s character is being kept under wraps for now, however, it was reported that he will have a major part in the latest version of the ’80s action film.

The film will premiere on Amazon Prime however a release date has not been confirmed as of yet.

Regardless, Amazon Studios took to Twitter to introduce McGregor as a cast member in its upcoming film.

They wrote, ‘Fight icon Conor McGregor expands his storied career into a film to join Jake Gyllenhaal in the reimagining of the beloved classic, Road House.’

Furthermore, the Irishman’s spokesperson Karen J. Kessler released a statement to address the news.

She said, ‘Conor McGregor is very excited to expand his storied career to Hollywood and join with Jake Gyllenhaal in this reimagining of ‘Road House,’ a beloved classic.’

She further added, ‘While fighting remains his top focus, this is the beginning of another successful venture in the McGregor empire. He is eager to get started filming.’

The filming will begin in late August in the Dominican Republic.

He even became the first-ever double champion in UFC history following his victory against Eddie Alvarez in November of 2016.

Regardless, the athlete has not stepped inside the octagon since last July when he broke his leg during his fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264.

McGregor was named the highest-paid athlete in the world in 2021. Sportico reported that his net worth was estimated to be roughly around $208M out of which $180M came from endorsements.

As per an article by ESPN, McGregor sold a majority of shares in his Proper No. 12 whiskey brand for nearly $600 million.

However, following this he has dropped among the world’s top-grossing athletes but remains the highest-paid UFC fighter. He is reportedly charging an estimated amount of  $52M in 2022.
