Tyrese Gibson will pay $10K every month in child support
Tyrese Gibson was ordered to pay $10,690 a month in child support during a proceeding on Tuesday. It was held before Superior Court Judge Kevin M. Farmer in Fulton County, Georgia.
As per an article by TMZ, Gibson is officially single after the judge granted him the divorce petition from his estranged wife, Samantha Lee Gibson.
Additionally, Tyrese and Samantha are parents to a three-year-old daughter Soraya.
Samantha had initially asked for $209,000 in child support when she first filed for divorce in September 2020.
However, the judge reduced it by $46,000 claiming that Tyrese has been paying for Samantha’s car for two years. Hence, Tyrese now owes her a $169,000 lump sum.
Moreover, Tyrese requested joint physical and legal custody of Soraya during the first hearing on Monday.
The 43-year-old actor said that he did not want to pay $20,000 a month in child support citing that it was ‘unreasonably high.’ He also asked to have the final word on Soraya’s non-medical emergencies.
Tyrese has further claimed that Samantha is extravagant. The star’s attorney’s revealed Samantha’s cosmetic expenses two years ago which were roughly $1,740.
They suggested that the money in child support would actually pay for Samantha’s lifestyle.
Tyrese’s attorney Tanya Mitchell Graham said, ‘She’s asked for a large sum of money for child support but she’s spending a lot of money on cosmetics. Is she asking for money for the child, or asking for money for herself?’
