Tyga apologized for his Ay Caramba music video after the rapper faced major backlash over the offensive Mexican-American stereotypes seen in the clip.

Tyga recently appeared at the Power 106’s LA Leakers radio station which was hosted by American Cholo.
If you did not know, Cholo specializes in unraveling different misconceptions and stereotypes in the Latino community.
Moreover, Cholo had heavily criticized Tyga and encouraged violence against him in the past on his YouTube channel.
Furthermore, while talking with the podcaster the rapper issued an official apology for his controversial Ay Caramba music video which was filled with unsavory stereotypes.
Tyga whose real name is Micheal Ray Stevenson claimed, ‘I had no intentions to offend anybody.’
He added, ‘If people are offended, I really apologize. If I do a show, 50 percent of the crowd on the west coast is Mexican. If they’re hurt, I’m hurt.’
Tyga alleged that he was overseas when the video was dropped on the internet and when it started receiving backlash. Hence he was not able to address it immediately.
He pointed out, ‘I started seeing a lot of people offended on it, and I was kind of confused, so that’s why I didn’t respond. I tried to do my research a little bit and tried to ask a lot of my friends that I grew up with that are Mexican.’
The 32-year-old musician then went on to note, ‘I was really kind of confused why are people offended because I’ve always done Latin records.’
The Ay Caramba music video included stereotypes such as a game show presenter sporting a sombrero and mariachis. Moreover, the Mexican-American community was not impressed with an overweight man eating tortilla chips in the clip.
Tyga explains why he had to delete Ay Caramba’s music video
Tyga took the platform to claim that he didn’t want to offend anyone. He wanted to rather ‘pay homage’ to the Latins all around the world.
He said, ‘I’m not Mexican, so I can’t say what Mexicans are offended by and not, but I had no intention of offending anybody. I want to apologize to the Mexican community and my fans who are Mexicans.’
The Far Away singer claimed that the overweight character was named Gordo and ‘wasn’t even Mexican’. He insisted that the man was inspired by the Nutty Professor character played by Eddie Murphy.
Tyga mentioned, ‘It was never my intention that this character is a fat Mexican character. That’s why I was confused. It was meant to be a funny video but not meant to make fun of Mexican culture.’
