Twitch CEO Dan Clancy recently addressed the potential unbanning of controversial Kick streamer Adin Ross during a spontaneous interaction with several prominent streamers. On July 26, 2024, an IRL broadcast featured notable content creators such as Jason “FaZe Jasontheween,” Rani “Stable Ronaldo,” Matthew “Mizkif,” Emily “ExtraEmily,” and Eric “Erobb221.” During this live stream, Stable Ronaldo seized the opportunity to ask Clancy about Ross’s ban status.

Ronaldo approached the topic with enthusiasm, saying, “There’s a streamer by the name of… I’m trying to get unbanned. He’s one of my favorite streamers. I look up to him. What can I do to get him unbanned? I think you know who I’m talking about. I’m talking about Adin Ross, yeah. What can we do to make that happen?” Ronaldo emphasized that Ross had reformed and was actively working to improve his community, even suggesting that Twitch could place Ross on “really thin ice” as a precautionary measure.

Dan Clancy responded with a willingness to engage in dialogue, stating, “Yeah. I’m open to chat to see where he’s at and what he’s thinking. If he can convince me that he really is different and he doesn’t try to get to just screw with me. You know?”

For those unfamiliar with the situation, Adin Ross received an indefinite ban from Twitch in February 2023 due to allegations of “hateful conduct.” The ban prompted Ross to move his streaming activities to Kick, another popular streaming platform.

In a bid to mend his reputation and possibly facilitate his return to Twitch, Ross has recently made public statements about his commitment to positive change. During an X Spaces session earlier this month, he pledged to donate “percentages of his stream revenue” to the LGBTQ+ community if unbanned by Twitch. Ross, aged 23, asserted, “Real recognize real. I’m not a bad person. Anyone saying I’m homophobic, I literally am donating percentages of my stream revenue to, you know, the LG community. I’m donating to a bunch of other communities. I know even my viewers don’t like that. I just don’t want you guys to think that, like, I don’t know…”

Ross’s commitment to donating to various communities, including the LGBTQ+ community, is part of his broader attempt to demonstrate personal growth and a genuine desire to rectify past mistakes. Despite these efforts, it remains uncertain if Twitch will lift the ban.

The decision now hinges on further discussions between Adin Ross and Dan Clancy. While Clancy’s openness to a conversation offers a glimmer of hope, Ross will need to convincingly demonstrate his reformation to regain his place on the Amazon-owned platform. For now, the streaming community awaits further developments in this ongoing saga.
