Tory Lanez has reportedly changed his legal team ahead of an upcoming court appearance. He might have fired his trial attorney and hired Suge knight’s lawyer following his conviction for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

Here is everything you need to know.

Tory Lanez hires David Kenner

Meghann Cuniff, a senior editor of Law & Crime reported on 10th January that Tory Lanez will return to the court on Tuesday.

If you didn’t know, she has been the legal reporter covering the Tory Lanez trial since the beginning.

Moreover, it was claimed that Lanez has replaced his legal team with Suge Knight’s former lawyer David Kenner.

For the unversed, Lanez was being represented by attorney Shawn Holley and later by George Mgdesyan during the trial.

However, recently it appears like Lanez has a new counsel in tow.

Cuniff wrote in a tweet, ‘Regarding Tory Lanez’s Tuesday court date, yes, there is a date listed on the jail roster.’

In addition, she said, ‘It’s not on Judge Herriford’s calendar, and he’s got a bunch of other stuff at the time. Attorney David Kenner confirmed to me last week he’s now representing Tory.’

Although, as per Cuniff, Kenner would have been in a more beneficial situation if he had not joined Lanez’s defense team.

She noted, ‘Anyone with actual experience in criminal law (not all lawyers) will tell you he’s joining the case a bit late: Before trial would have been better.’

In a follow-up tweet, Cuniff explained that currently, it is difficult to determine what might happen at Tuesday’s hearing.

She said that the possibilities are uncertain as Los Angeles Superior Court haven’t made court documents available to the public.

Meanwhile, Kenner represented Knight during the latter’s January 2015 hit-and-run case.

Why is Tory Lanez arrested?

Tory Lanez is behind prison bars after he was found guilty in his trial for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

Additionally, he is booked under three charges including carrying a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle and assault with a semiautomatic handgun.

Besides that, the felonies came after an altercation between Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020. It led the former to shoot the Her singer.

Meanwhile, Lanez is facing up to 22 years in jail as well as deportation at sentencing later this month.

Additionally, a Change.org petition has been created in order to appeal the verdict. It has gained more than 50,000 signatures.
