Tim & Dee TV Respond to Hailey Welch Lawsuit Rumors: “The Truth Will Come Out”
3 min readAfter Hailey Welch shut down rumors regarding a lawsuit in a series of posts on X (formerly known as Twitter), the creators behind Tim & Dee TV, who conducted her now-famous “Hawk Tuah” interview, have stated that “the truth will come to light soon.”
Rumors of Hailey Welch suing the YouTube creators began circulating earlier this week. However, in an October 7 post, Welch firmly denied these claims, labeling the reports as “fake news.” She went on to clarify that if she ever planned to file a lawsuit, “it would be public,” and suggested that these rumors stemmed from people chasing clout.
Despite Welch’s strong denial, the creators of Tim & Dee TV, Tim Dickerson and DeArius Marlow, shared their side of the story in a statement to People on October 10. According to them, they believe Welch still intends to take legal action against them. They also responded to Welch’s suggestion that they are “clout chasers.” In their defense, they said:
“We’ve supported her from the start, even through the backlash and negative comments. It’s unfair for her to paint us in a bad light when we played a role in her success. But the truth will come out soon.”

Tim & Dee TV rose to prominence after posting a street interview video with Welch, which later went viral. The clip, which earned her the nickname “Hawk Tuah girl,” features Welch sharing an unconventional relationship tip, and has since racked up over eight million views. The YouTubers feel they were instrumental in making Welch famous, but feel they’ve been overlooked in her rise to stardom.
Allegations of a Second Attorney
In their statement, the Tennessee-based YouTubers further stood by their claims that Welch intends to sue them. Marlow had first hinted at the potential lawsuit in a TikTok video posted on October 3. Additionally, in response to a fan’s comment on YouTube, Marlow confirmed that the lawsuit was not “fake news,” and promised a YouTube video with “all the receipts.”
The lawsuit drama escalated when a fan sent Welch a screenshot of Marlow’s YouTube comment, which led Welch to label the situation as nothing more than a “clout chase.” However, according to Tim & Dee TV, Welch has hired a second attorney who reached out to them, reportedly regarding a legal letter. “As far as we know, that’s her plan [to sue],” the duo stated, adding that they are still waiting for further communication from the lawyer.

Seeking Recognition
Dickerson and Marlow expressed frustration over the lack of recognition they feel they deserve for helping Hailey Welch achieve internet fame. In a previous interview with The New York Times, the duo voiced their discontent, stating, “At the end of the day, nobody would know who she was if we didn’t bring it to light and post it.”
According to Marlow, when he attempted to reconnect with Welch for a potential collaboration after her viral success, he was instead directed to speak with her attorney.
Tim and Dee, former college roommates, run a popular YouTube channel where they film lighthearted street interviews in nightlife spots across the country. Despite the tension with Welch, they continue to stand by their claims, confident that the full story will soon unfold.
