TikToker itsmattyco goes viral after faking Coldplay lawsuit

What’s trending lately on TikTok is a user that claims he has been sued by the representative of the famous band “Coldplay”. Tiktok has a varied range of contents, sometimes that amuses, while sometimes that shocks everyone. Certainly, this user on Tiktok has left everyone thinking if he is lying or not. But why the TikToker has been sued?

TikToker Matty claims getting sued by Coldplay

A Tiktok user who goes with the username @itsmattyco has grabbed all the attention by claiming that sounds unusual. Matty the TikToker has shared in his Tiktok video that the representative of the famous band “Coldplay” has sent him to cease & desist letter over the copyright violation of their song.

The letter that Matty has shown in his Tiktok video seems to have been received from a company named “Capitol Music Group L.L.C”. It was on the 15th of this month when he shared the letter with all. It also looks as if he has been sued for the copyright violation of Coldplay’s song “Clock “ as written in the letter.

Is the letter received by TikToker Matty fake?

Well, certainly after Matty shared the letter with all. He said that he has been sued as one of his own songs sounds like “Clock” by Coldplay. He even played his own song and Clock by Coldplay to tell the viewers that there’s no similarity between the two songs.

However, what was interesting about the whole thing was that “Capitol Music Group” isn’t any registered company in California. Also, the company stated in his letter has never had any links with the band “Coldplay”. Meanwhile, the song that has been mentioned in the cease & desist letter titled “Clock” is actually by Warner Music Group. So, it seems obvious that the letter shown in the Tiktok video is actually a fake one.

Users’ reaction on the fake document by Matty

While the video had the TikToker asking for help to handle the lawsuit. The document shown by him has been believed to be fake by all. Also, the Tiktok video by Matty has got more than 280k views and users have reacted to it.

While users gave several reactions, there were some of them calling the document by Matty to be “Badly Photoshopped”. Meanwhile, the attorney who wrote the letter has stated that she didn’t send the letter to the TikToker.
