University of Texas at Austin has come up with an announcement on 17th January 2023. It released a notice about a ban on the use of TikTok on the university network. It would be on the Wi-Fi networks of the University Of Texas at Austin campus that no one would be able to have access to their TikTok.

However, the ban is only on the use of TikTok from the network of the university campus. The announcement is applicable to students and faculty of the university as well.

The announcement about the ban on use of TikTok at the University of Texas at Austin came to comply with the order of Governor Greg Abbott. As governor’s directive demanded all state agencies remove TikTok from the devices issued by the government, be it cellphones, laptops, or desktops.

The statement announcing the ban on TikTok on the university network even cited why the decision was taken. Meanwhile, the users of TikTok who are a part of the University of Texas at Austin are concerned over the announcement. As it has been a popular app that is used by many of the faculties and students of the university.

Well, it isn’t the first time the short video-sharing platform TikTok has been on the radar of authorities wanting it to be banned. As previously too the demands have come to ban the app citing the reason of a possible security threat from it.

University of Texas at Austin too cited that it is in connection with the national security threats that the campus network won’t allow its members including students to have access to TikTok.
