It’s no secret that Demi Lovato is bold about her style choices – and now she’s taken it even further. A huge black spider tattoo appeared on the side of the 29-year-old singer’s head in an Instagram Story post she shared on Saturday.
Demi revealed the story behind the spider, even though it might look frightening. Her Instagram post mentioned that Grandmother Spider taught them many things.

According to Demi, her grandmother taught her pottery and weaving. Among other things, she taught them about fire, light, and darkness. They learned that we are all connected to the web – “each one of us having our own place in this world.”

The tattoo was done by celebrity tattoo artist Dr. Woo, who also revealed photos of the new ink on his Instagram Story. It lies just over the “Skyscraper” singer’s ear.

What’s The Story Behind Grandmother Spider?

Native American mythology calls for the Spider Grandmother to appear in both human and spider forms.
People receive her advice or find her medicinal cures by following the story passed down through generations. Her reputation is as a ‘wise individual representing good things’.

Reactions To The New Tattoo On The Internet

Recently, the clip where Demi said they are terrified of spiders resurfaced after their tattoo was posted on Instagram.
One fan, however, suggested that this could be a sign of growth for the singer.

According to the tweet by the fan, Demi used to be afraid of spiders, so this tattoo could probably symbolize her facing her fears head-on and turning the energy into more courage rather than letting fear get in the way. “Kind of like taking it then harnessing and owning it in a new way in this era?”

Demi’s Ever-changing Styles

Lovato also showed off new hairstyles in 2022 in addition to the new body art. A short FaceTime video recorded by photographer Angelo Kritikos on Christmas Day showed off the artist’s freshly shaved head.

The pop artist discussed her ever-changing haircuts as an attempt to break away from the “heteronormative box” she’s been caught in for years in a March cover story for Glamour.
