The largest ransomware virus attack in history to end up with $70 million in cryptocurrency
2 min readRansomware Virus Attack: In a brazen act of aggression, the Russian-linked hacker group who is known to spread its cyber weapon across the globe has been unstoppable in the last few days. With no end in sight, experts are racing to stop the hackers responsible before they target the other countries. A cybercriminal affiliate of the notorious REvil gang, best known for extorting $11 million from the meat-processor JBS after a Memorial Day attack, infected thousands of victims in at least 17 countries on Friday, largely through firms that remotely manage IT infrastructure for multiple customers, cybersecurity researchers said.
However, before this Sunday, they were asking for $5 million to end this, but now they are asking for a whopping amount of $70 million in cryptocurrency. The hackers have said that they will post this on the dark website, a universal decryptor software that will make all the infected computers restore the data they want. The FBI also stated that they are working on it, but since the infected persons are in huge numbers, therefore they can’t indulge in a talk with everyone. President Joe Biden

Thousands of businesses and public agencies, including travel agencies, banks, and local and federal governments were the targets of a cyber attack. The data of their companies have been stolen in large quantities, thus resulting in a huge problem for them. Stores in Sweden, IT firms in Germany, and other big companies have been affected because of this cyber attack.
“People are panicking, and we can’t blame them. Getting your identity stolen is a huge pain,” said the officials. Now it is in the hands of the hacking group to end this as the government can’t handle this now.
