Tekashi 6ix9ine, the controversial rapper known for his vibrant persona and legal troubles, has agreed to a plea deal that will see him serve an additional month in jail following recent probation violations. The artist, whose real name is Daniel Hernández, was arrested on October 29 after failing multiple drug tests and neglecting to inform his probation officer of travel plans. His recent probation violations come just months before he would have completed his court-mandated supervision.
The plea deal, partially endorsed by a federal judge in Manhattan, includes not only a month-long jail sentence but also extended terms for his supervised release. Following his release from jail, Hernández will be subject to an additional month of home incarceration, a month of home detention, and a month of curfew with electronic monitoring. The terms of his probation have also been extended by one year, adding new restrictions and surveillance measures to monitor his compliance. Hernández is scheduled to be formally sentenced on November 12, when he will be expected to admit to his probation violations before Judge Paul A. Engelmayer.

Judge Engelmayer, who also presided over Hernández’s initial sentencing in a federal racketeering and firearms case in 2019, expressed disappointment over the rapper’s failure to adhere to his probation requirements. This most recent violation stems from a trip to Las Vegas that Hernández allegedly took without informing his probation officer, leading to his arrest. His attorney, Lance Lazzaro, initially expressed optimism about his release, but the recent plea deal underscores the gravity of his probation breaches.
Hernández’s legal troubles have been ongoing since 2018, when he faced serious charges related to his involvement with the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang. After initially pleading not guilty, he agreed to a plea deal in 2019, admitting to nine charges that included ordering gang-related violent acts, such as a shooting aimed at rival rapper Chief Keef. His cooperation with prosecutors during this case ultimately led to a reduced sentence, with the court granting him probation under strict conditions.
In addition to his legal battles with the justice system, Hernández faces a recent lawsuit from his former girlfriend, Jorgina Lulu Guillermo Diaz (known as Yailin La Más Viral). Filed in September, the lawsuit accuses Hernández of physical and emotional abuse, as well as financial exploitation. Diaz alleges that Hernández diverted her funds for personal luxury expenses and coerced her into undergoing cosmetic procedures. Although he has denied these claims, the lawsuit adds another layer to his tumultuous public and legal life.
Hernández’s recent arrest and subsequent plea deal are the latest entries in a long list of controversies for the rapper, who has struggled to maintain compliance with the law even after his cooperation in the 2019 case. Despite apologizing to Judge Engelmayer and asserting that he is not a “bad person,” the “GUMMO” rapper continues to face setbacks in his attempts to rebuild his life and career.
The November 12 sentencing will officially confirm the terms of the plea deal, likely setting 6ix9ine on a more scrutinized path with additional supervision requirements and strict curfews to ensure compliance. Until then, the rapper remains in custody, awaiting his next court appearance and the formal conclusion of this chapter in his legal saga.
