After much speculation, Taylor Swift has finally addressed the claims that she secretly dated a few of her close female friends. The musical icon says that she initially began hanging out with women following it “became transparent” that she couldn’t casually date or simply “platonically hang out with” men without the media believing that they were “sleeping” together, according to the prologue for her highly anticipated album 1989 (Taylor’s Version), according to Page Six. I therefore made a vow to stop hanging out with men. According to screenshots published on Twitter, she says, “Dating, flirting, or any activity that could be weaponized towards me by a society that purported to believe in empowering women but constantly regarded me with the strict ethical standards of the Victorian era.”
