Taylor Swift fans flood the GoFundMe of a fellow Swiftie who was killed in a hit-and-run

Taylor Swift’s fans are banding together for the family of Jacob Lewis who tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run while leaving the singer’s show in Houston.

Here is everything you need to know.

A fan of Taylor Swift was killed on the way home from the Houston concert

Jacob Lewis was struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver on 22nd April Saturday. 

Moreover, the incident reportedly took place while the boy was leaving Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’ concert at NRG Stadium with his sister.

According to reports, Lewis was hit while he was trying to push his car to the side of the road. It appears like he and his sister were facing some car troubles on the way home from the concert. 

The Houston Police Department revealed that Alan Bryant Hayes hit the sibling and fled from the scene. However, a Good Samaritan tow truck driver was following him after watching the collision.

In the wake of the accident, fans of Swift also known as ‘Swifties’ are rallying together to support Lewis’ family. 

In addition, the fans have flooded the GoFundMe page with $13 donations to honor the favorite number of the Love Story singer.

Furthermore, the money raised will reportedly go towards covering the funeral cost of Lewis.

 As of Monday night, the page had raised more than $100,000 and successfully managed to surpass the initial goal of $75,000. 

Jacob Lewis’s parents release statements following his fatal crash

Jacob Lewis’s father Steve Lewis took to his official Facebook account to share his thoughts on the untimely death of his 20-year-old son.

He wrote, ‘I hope that everybody who knew Jacob was touched by him and he was a good part of their lives.’

He added, ‘Jacob will be remembered as a loving and faithful young man who was loyal to his family and friends.’

Additionally, he mentioned, ‘His last act was to push his sister to safety on a dark street. There is no way to describe the magnitude of this loss and the emptiness left in our hearts.’

Lewis’ mother, Karyn Sobczak Lewis on the other hand released a separate post to share her grief.

She said, ‘He was the best son a mother could ask for. He was always willing to help, tolerated my tendency to be overreaching at times, and filled my days with joy.’

She continued, ‘He was my baby and so much like me. A true mama’s boy, but he loved it!’
