Sydney Sweeney recently took to Twitter to address the social media outrage that she faced after her mother’s 60th birthday bash.
She wrote, ‘You guys this is wild. An innocent celebration for my mom’s milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention.’
Sweeney further wrote, ‘Please stop making assumptions. Much love to everyone and Happy Birthday Mom!’
Her response comes after she uploaded a series of photos in celebration of her mother Lisa Sweeney’s 60th birthday bash.
She outlined the post with a caption that read, ‘No better way to celebrate my momma than a surprise hoedown.’
Regardless, netizens were quick to notice that in one of the images, an unidentifiable man was seen wearing a ‘Blue Lives Matter’ T-shirt.
If you didn’t know, the aforementioned slogan refers to a pro-cops countermovement in the US that was launched in response to ‘Black Lives Matter.’
Meanwhile, the Euphoria star’s brother, Trent also shared multiple pictures of the event on his Instagram handle. However, in the post, some guests were seen sporting red baseball caps that had the words, ‘Make Sixty Great Again’ printed on them.
The phrase is a parody of the campaign slogan, ‘Make America Great Again’ started by former US President Donald Trump in 2016. He began his infamous ‘MAGA’ movement subsequently.

Many social media users were not satisfied with Sydney Sweeney’s response despite her clarification.
They took to the comment section of the post to share their views.
One person wrote, ‘It’s literally a political statement. Magats are gonna maga.’
A second user shared, ‘You support a treasonous traitor! Guilty by association.’
A third fan commented, ‘Then you should’ve selected other pictures to post that wouldn’t be left up to interpretation in this manner. Lesson learned for you, I “assume”.’
