Serenity Mckinney’s Disappearance
Since Serenity McKinney went missing a year ago, there has been no sign of her. The police, finally found her body in the woods of West Point, Kentucky last Friday. Shelby County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the concerned members of her family reported her disappearance on January 31, 2022. They revealed that the last time they saw her was on Christmas 2020.

Mother, Catherine Charged With Murder
Serenity McKinney’s grandfather was on of the people who jointly filed the missing report. He revealed that when asked Catherine McKinney about her daughter’s whereabouts, he got unsatisfactory answers from her and her boyfriend Dakota. Catherine had cut off all contacts with Serenity’s grandparents. Her step-grandmother revealed that Catherine reached out to them and eventually got in touch with them again, through messaging. However, she would not let me meet or talk to Serenity.
When Catherine McKinney failed to turn over the child to the court following an order, the police arrested her and her boyfriend Dakota Hill on charges of custodial interference. Earlier this month, the police arrested the couple who alleged to have eloped in Kansas and extradited them to Kentucky. Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reports that Catherine McKinney pleaded the fifth when asked where her daughter was.
Serenity Mckinney’s Body Found
Ever since the family filed the report of the missing child, Attorney General Daniel Cameron and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office have appealed for public assistance in finding her. In the weeks preceding Serenity’s death, her family members distributed flyers featuring her face and held prayer vigils. Families, friends, and strangers all gathered on the steps of the Shelby County Courthouse on February 13 in hopes of seeing Serenity again.
According to Kentucky State Police, they found Serenity McKinney’s body last Friday at around 2:00 pm near the 1300 block of Skyview Road in West Point, near the border between Jefferson and Bullitt counties. The Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville conducted an autopsy on Saturday, according to WHAS. The results of the same, are yet to be announced.
