Selena Gomez recently admitted that she did not reveal the real truth behind the effect body shaming has on her.

Selena Gomez recently broke her silence on body shaming and spoke about the effect of negative comments from online bullies.

Moreover, the 30-year-old singer made the revelations in the latest docuseries titled ‘Dear….’ which was released by Apple on Thursday.

In addition, Gomez also revealed that she lied about not getting affected by the body shamers. However, in reality, she would burst into tears in her room.

She said, ‘I lied. I would go online and I would post a picture and I would say, ‘It doesn’t matter. I’m not accepting what you’re saying.’

Meanwhile, if you didn’t know Gomez has previously been quick to shut down body shamers on the internet. She had openly talked about body positivity and mental health. 

The Disney alum then shared that while she tried to be impenetrable in front of the online trollers. But she would eventually cry her ‘eyes out because no one deserves to hear those things.’

Gomez mentioned, ‘I was posting these things saying it doesn’t bother me because I didn’t want it to bother other people who are experiencing the same thing.’

She went on to add, ‘Getting shamed for what they look like, who they are, who they love, I just think it’s so unfair.’

Selena Gomez opens up about her body fluctuations after her lupus diagnosis

Selena Gomez was diagnosed with lupus in 2014. Additionally, she has remained to be candid about the condition and shared that the medications for lupus led her body to fluctuate.

The Wizards of Waverly Place alum explained during a TikTok Live video in February this year.

She explained, ‘I tend to hold a lot of water weight and that happens very normally. And then when I’m off of [my medication], I tend to lose weight.’

Subsequently, she continued, ‘I just wanted to say and encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what they’re going for and nobody knows the real story.’

Besides that, Gomez recently clapped back at the body shamers following her appearance at the Golden Globes this year.

She talked about the body shaming during an Instagram Live after the award show alongside her 9-year-old sister, Gracie.

Gomez said, ‘I’m a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays. But we don’t care.’
