A 49-year-old man, Scott Peterson was convicted for the 2002 murder of his wife and their unborn son. On Wednesday, 8 December 2021, Scott was resentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Jurors Raised Objections
Scott Peterson was officially arrested in 2004. He spent 15 years on death row till his death penalty was removed in August 2020 because of improper screening of the jurors.
Simultaneously, the California Supreme court disclosed that many jurors were dismissed from the case after they expressed their objection to the death penalty.

Earlier in 2021, Stanislaus County district attorney Birgit Fladger confirmed that Nice would not ask the court to reinstate Peterson’s death penalty after speaking with the victim’s family. On Wednesday, Scott Petersons’ defense attorney, Pat Harris said that the former wanted to speak in court, but the Superior Court Judge Anne-Christine Massullo denied the request as the sentence was predecided.

Sharon, Laci’s mother, also called Scot Peterson a ‘murderer’ and a ‘coward’ for not accepting the crime he did. Sharon was also joined by her other two children, Brent, and Amy Rocha.
Brent said that the family was still broken and devastated over Laci’s death. Amy on the other hand rebuked Scott and said that he would be punished in this life and after.
