Popular Twitch streamer Kai Cenat experienced a shocking moment during his Mafiathon 2 stream on November 18, 2024, when a scam caller used a racial slur against him. Joined by YouTuber and scam-busting expert Pierogi, known online as Scammer Payback, Kai was engaged in a prank call with a scammer. The interaction took a disturbing turn when the caller, frustrated that his scam wasn’t working, used the N-word. Clips of the incident have since gone viral, drawing widespread condemnation.

In one clip, Kai Cenat immediately confronted the scammer, visibly angry and shouting:
“Oh! Okay, you want to call me a nia! Kevin, you want to call me a nia! Really? Really? Kevin?”
Pierogi also responded to the caller, attempting to mock him in broken Hindi, a language widely spoken in India. Despite their efforts to keep the conversation light-hearted, the scammer revealed his bias by stating he preferred speaking with Pierogi because he was white, openly expressing his dislike for Black people.

For context, Kai Cenat, one of Twitch’s most prominent creators, has roots in Trinidad and Tobago through his mother and in Haiti through his father. The racial insult hurled at him during the live stream ignited a strong emotional reaction not only from the streamer but also from his audience, who expressed solidarity and outrage online.

The Emotional Rollercoaster Before the Insult

Before the racial slur, the call with the scammer, who identified himself as “Kevin,” had already been a bizarre exchange. At one point, Kevin appeared to realize who he was speaking with and seemingly broke down, saying:
“Yes? I am so screwed. I am really sorry, I am so screwed.”

Kai Cenat, attempting to de-escalate the situation, joked with the scammer, urging him to admit defeat humorously:
“Kevin, it’s okay. You’re not going to be in trouble, alright? Kevin, just say, ‘I am a btch.’ Kevin, just say it, and everything will be fine.”*

However, the lighthearted tone ended abruptly when the scammer resorted to racist language, sparking the heated exchange that has since dominated social media discussions.
