Ten new singles from across the nation are ready to enter the villa and search for their ideal partner as Love Island USA returns for another season.

However, viewers will have noticed that the show’s host since it debuted in 2019—Arielle Vandenberg—has not returned for the new season as it transitions from CBS to Peacock. Sarah Hyland, a modern family actress, is now the face of the dating show.

Fans reacted strongly to the news, and while they were happy for the actress, they were also a little perplexed because it had not yet been made known that Arielle would not be returning as a presenter for the upcoming season.

Arielle posted a statement on her own Instagram account detailing the reasons she was fired from the program and including pictures of some of her favorite set moments to help clear up any confusion.

Her caption said, in part, “I was cast to be the host of CBS’s version of Love Island and we had 3 fantastic seasons.” Sadly, CBS decided not to renew it for a fourth season. Since Peacock is a different network, they are fully rebranding the program and giving it a new host and narrator.

“Although I’m so sad to leave the show, I’m extremely proud of my friend @sarahhyland because she’s going to rock it! To sum up, I just wanted to use this platform to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for your support during the past three seasons of @loveislandusa.”

The show’s narrator, Matthew Hoffman, has also been replaced

Matthew Hoffman has also been removed as the show’s narrator, as Arielle’s caption stated. The renowned voice of the UK version of the show, Scottish comedian Iain Stirling, is donating his voice this season to subtly make fun of the competitors and their drama.

Love Island USA replaced the Hawaiian villa from the previous season with one on the California coast in addition to appointing a new host. The U.K. version’s original narrator, British comedian Iain Stirling, will now serve as the Season 4 narrator in place of Matthew Hoffman. In a June statement to TVLine, Jenny Groom, executive vice president of unscripted entertainment at NBCUniversal, said, “We knew we had to have Iain on board the moment the decision was made to bring an all-new version of Love Island to Peacock.” Iain epitomizes the humor, irreverence, and cheeky fun that viewers enjoy about the program. Without him, Love Island wouldn’t be the same.
