Having received criticism over his casting in the Barbie film, Ryan Gosling has the perfect reply. He claims people “never cared” about Barbie’s counterpart before, according to Aceshowbiz.com, who called him too old to play Ken in the live-action adaptation of the Mattel dolls. After the release of the trailer and pictures, the 42-year-old actor spoke with GQ magazine’s cover story about the controversy that ensued among different generations of Barbie fans. Initially, he gives a diplomatic response: I would say there are plenty of other Kens to play with if people don’t want to play with mine.

It’s mentioned again later by ‘The Gray Man’ star, as the magazine notes. Adding to it, he says it’s funny how people grasp their pearls and say, “It’s not my ken.”. The film, directed by Greta Gerwig, features Margot Robbie and Kate McKinnon as Barbie, Issa Rae and Alexandra Shipp. In addition to Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Scott Evans, Ncutti Gatwa, and John Cena, there are many variations of Ken. A new trailer for the film shows Barbie having a “full-on existential crisis”. In an attempt to find the truth, Barbie leaves Barbie Land with Ken by her side. As they adjust to life in the real world, chaos ensues. July 21 marks the film’s release in US theaters.

In A New Interview With GQ Magazine Ryan Gosling Responds To Critics Who Say He’s Too Old To Play Ken

Actor Ryan Gosling responded to criticism about his casting in the ‘Barbie’ movie in the perfect way. Asserting people have never cared about Ken, Barbie’s counterpart, he dismisses critics who called him too “old” to play the role in the live-action Mattel doll adaptation, aceshowbiz.com reports. After the release of photographs and trailer for ‘Barbie’ earlier this year, a debate broke out among different generations of fans about the movie. The 42-year-old actor was questioned on the debateΒ in a new interview for GQ magazine’s cover story. He initially responded diplomatically, stating, “If individuals don’t want to play with my Ken, there are plenty of other Kens.” It was later brought up again by ‘The Gray Man’ star. I find it funny, he continues, that people clutch their pearls and say, “No, not my Ken.”. Have you ever thought about Ken before?

All of them were fine with his having a meaningless career, he claims, before accusing the critics of hypocrisy: “But suddenly, folks are claiming, No, we have always cared about Ken.” You didn’t. No, you didn’t. It never mattered to you. You would know that nobody cares about Ken if you ever really cared about him. Your hypocrisy has thus been revealed. “This is the reason it is essential to tell his story,” the actor adds. His story now matters to me. It’s like I’m his representative. Ken was unable to accept this award, so I am here to do so for him. In addition to Margot Robbie playing the titular doll, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Alexandra Shipp, Dua Lipa and many others portray different versions of the doll. John Cena, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Scott Evans, Ncutti Gatwa, Simu Liu, and Kingsley Ben-Adir all play variations of Ken. Barbie undergoes a full-on existential crisis in the latest trailer for the film. In search of “the truth”, she leaves Barbie Land with Ken by her side. As the pair adjust to reality, chaos ensues. The film will be released on July 21 in US theaters.
