When Netflix emerged, the world of streaming was forever changed. Your love of DVD renting may even have started with renting DVDs straight to your door if it’s been a part of your life for a long time. The streaming service Netflix has become a household essential for most audiences because of its extensive library of film and TV, which is accessible at a moment’s notice. With shows such as The Diplomat and The Night Agent recently earning success, and movies such as Murder Mystery 2 and You People also dominating our minds, it’s been a big year for Netflix too.

The content has, however, been overshadowed by recent posts claiming the streaming service Netflix CEO has p assed away. A tweet posted on Tuesday, April 25th 2023 may have sparked speculation that Netflix’s CEO is dead. An overdose of fentanyl reportedly led to the death of Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, according to a tweet. The statement is, however, completely untrue. Taking into account where the Twitter user might have obtained their ‘information’ is important.

DEBUNKED: Netflix CEO Is Not Dead As Reported By The Rumours Surrounding Online

Netflix changed the world of streaming forever. It may even have started with renting DVDs straight to your door, depending on how long it’s been part of your life. With its vast library of movies and television shows at its fingertips, Netflix has become a household necessity for most audiences since those early days. Their year has been big too, with shows such as The Diplomat and The Night Agent recently earning success, and movies such as Murder Mystery 2 and You People also gaining popularity. As for the content, it has taken a backseat in recent posts suggesting that Netflix’s CEO has passed away. Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, the co-CEOs of Netflix, are both alive and well. Former CEO Reed Hastings will become the company’s Executive Chairman in January 2023; Reed is still alive. A tweet posted on Tuesday, April 25th 2023, may have sparked talk and rumors that the Netflix CEO is dead. Apparently, Netflix’s CEO died from a fentanyl overdose in his hotel room, according to a tweet. Contrary to popular belief, this is not true.

In the video accompanying the tweet, basketball legend LeBron James sings Travis Scott’s Sicko Mode to fans. It is worth noting that Variety reported Lin Qi’s death in December 2020, which may explain the Twitter user’s ‘information’. According to the headline, Lin Qi, a Netflix producer and a CEO at Yoozoo Games, died at 39 after a poisoning investigation. Some may have read this as Lin being Netflix’s CEO, but that wasn’t the case. It turned out that he was the CEO of a Chinese video game publisher named Yoozoo. Netflix had scheduled him to executive produce a sci-fi series called The Three-Body Problem, which was his connection to it. Prior to Ted’s and Greg’s appointment as CEOs, Reed expressed his confidence in their ability to run Netflix: Greg Peters, currently the COO, will become Ted’s co-CEO today. Following the passing of the CEO baton, I will serve as Executive Chairman, a role often taken by founders (Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, etc.). During our 15 years working together in various capacities, we have developed a close relationship. Our long, effective relationship has taught us a lot about bringing our best selves out in each other. This role will be a wonderful opportunity for me to work with them for many years to come.
