In the clip, Diddy is seen addressing a group of partygoers, telling them to “get lotioned up” and freshen up for the festivities. While the footage, obtained by TMZ, might have seemed harmless at the time, it has taken on new significance in light of the legal battles Diddy currently faces.
Diddy, the founder of Bad Boy Records and a prominent figure in the music industry for decades, is currently embroiled in a legal case involving allegations of sex trafficking. He is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, awaiting trial. The clip in question comes from a party held at Diddy’s Holmby Hills mansion in Los Angeles in June 2022, the night after he received the prestigious BET Lifetime Achievement Award. In the video, Diddy grabs a microphone and announces to his guests, “Everybody make sure your breath is fresh… make sure you’re lotioned up, you know what I’m saying.” He then goes on to encourage party attendees who were smoking weed to use mouthwash and urges women to hit the dance floor, regardless of whether their dates are willing to join.
While the footage doesn’t directly implicate Diddy in any of the charges he faces, the video has gained traction because of the current allegations against him. In a further twist, a celebrity photographer named Selma Fonseca recently spoke out about attending numerous Diddy parties in the past. Fonseca, who claims to have been at 20 to 30 of these events dating back to the 1990s, described them as extravagant, with high-profile guests and excellent food. Despite attending many of Diddy’s gatherings, she insists that she never witnessed anything resembling the disturbing allegations he currently faces. Fonseca recounted one incident where her camera was confiscated after she took a picture of Diddy with an unfamiliar woman, but beyond that, she claims to have never seen anything particularly out of the ordinary at his parties.
As Diddy’s trial looms, more stories from those who attended his events continue to emerge, painting a picture of wild, opulent parties where powerful people mingled in exclusive settings. However, as Fonseca’s account highlights, not everyone who crossed paths with Diddy saw anything that would hint at the serious charges he now faces.
While the resurfaced “lotioned up” video might seem amusing to some, the broader context of Diddy’s legal troubles casts a shadow over what was once just another night of excess for the hip-hop mogul.
