As per sources, Rebecca Lanette Taylor offered $500,000 to the infant’s mother. Authorities confirmed the report. The woman attempted to bargain the price for the child at the parking area of the Walmart store Crockett. Later she left the place in a black SUV.
This case was filed at the Crockett Police Department by the mother of the infant immediately after it took place. She also filed an affidavit against Rebecca Lanette Taylor who tried to purchase the infant.
The evidence against Rebecca Lanette Taylor was found by the officials through the surveillance video recorded in that area. The lady has been charged with a third-degree felony for trying to purchase or sell a child. Rebecca Lanette Taylor was detained at the Houston County Sheriff’s Office and got released on a $50,000 bond.

As per sources, she is a 49-year-old woman who was accompanied by another woman while she was dealing with the infant’s mother. Both the woman approached the mother and her two children when she was standing at the self-checkout line in the Walmart store. This incident took place on 13th January 2022.

The Affidavit obtained from the officials states that Rebecca Lanette Taylor approached the mother and she complimented her younger child’s blue eyes and blonde hair. After that, she asked about the cost of the child as she was interested in purchasing her son.
The mother reported the cops about the incident as she “laughed off” the remark. Rebecca had $250,000 in the car and tried to bargain the amount for purchasing her son. The mother replied to the lady that “no amount of money would do”, but Rebecca did not listen to her. Later she started calling her son’s name when the mother asked her to “back away” from her son.
Rebecca told the mother that she was planning to purchase a child for a long time and her son is a “perfect fit” for her. She left the store but then Rebecca was waiting for her at the parking area.
The mother said that she never met that Lady before. She continued, “Taylor began screaming at me, saying if she would not take $250,000 for him, then she would give her $500,000 because she wanted him and she was going to take him.”
Statement by Crockett Police Department
Ahleea price, Crockett Police Department Lieutenant, visited Rebecca’s place and tried to communicate with her about the incident but she did not cooperate with the officer. Price said, “she told me that she does not like thieves, then she stated I could speak with her attorney and to get off her ‘precipice’. She slammed the door shut.”

The officials informed that they released Rebecca on bond and further investigation is going on. If she is found guilty then she has to face a minimum of two years and a maximum of 10 years imprisonment and she had to pay a fine of $10,000 under the Texas panel code.
